For the Google generation, closing school libraries could be disastrous. Not teaching kids how to sift through sources is like sending them into the world without knowing how to read.
Support our school libraries. Vote YES on Measure CC!
Pasadena Unified School District is losing $23 million in funding from Sacramento.
A partial list of cuts the district will be forced to make if Measure CC does not pass:
- Increased class sizes in K–3 from 22–31 students per teacher—a reduction of 82 teachers.
- Elimination of all school library personnel and closing of all libraries, a reduction of 17 librarians and aides.
- Elimination of class size reduction in 9th grade math and English, a reduction of 9 teachers.
- A reduction of 5 counselors at high schools and middle schools.
